Our examination found the claim to be FALSE.

How We Examined the claim:

  1. We analyzed official sales data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). SIAM is a vehicle manufacturing industry body that publishes vehicle sales data regularly. Their numbers are considered authoritative and quoted across publications regularly. SIAM numbers for 2024-25 show that passenger vehicle sales grew by 2% and 2 -wheeler sales grew by 9.10%.

2. We checked mobile sales number for the year 2024 published by International Data Corporation (IDC). IDC is a global market intelligence and advisory firm specializing in technology, telecommunications, and consumer tech research and analysis. While IDC publishes periodic and ad hoc reports, this table is from the only report that provides annual sales number for last year. As per this report, mobile sales in India grew by 4.1%.

Conclusion:

Rahul Gandhi’s claim that two-wheeler sales fell by 17%, car sales by 8.6%, and mobile sales by 7% in the last year is directly contradicted by automobile and mobile phone industry data. Rahul Gandhi has also not provided any source for his claims. In fact, industry data shows growth of 9.10% (2-wheelers), 2% (passenger vehicles) and 4.1% (mobile phones) last year.

Therefore, the claim is False.
